Module B (EU type-examination) is a conformity assessment procedure in which a notified body examines the technical design of a product and verifies and confirms that the technical design of the product meets the applicable requirements of Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. Technická inšpekcia, a.s. performs the EU type-examination in accordance with Annex VII of the Regulation, as a notified body with the assigned number NB 1354 and as an accredited product certification body (PCB).
What Module B Includes
- Examination of technical documentation to assess the adequacy of the technical design
- Carrying out or arranging for the performance of appropriate tests, assessments, and examinations
- Verification of a representative sample (samples) of the product
- Preparation of an evaluation report
- Issuance of an EU type-examination certificate
What Needs to Be Submitted
- An application according to Annex VII of the Regulation, which the manufacturer submits to only a single notified body of their choice
- Technical documentation according to Annex IV of the Regulation
- A declaration of the manufacturer’s commitment to take all necessary measures to ensure that the manufacturing process and its monitoring ensure the compliance of the manufactured products with the assessed type sample and its technical documentation
- A representative sample (samples) of the product on which the conformity assessment will be performed
- A draft of the EU declaration of conformity and product marking, including the CE mark and the number of the notified body (NB) that performed the EU type-examination
Validity of the EU Type-Examination Certificate
The validity period of new certificates and, where relevant, renewed certificates shall not exceed 5 years.
Review of the EU Type-Examination Certificate
The manufacturer shall request the notified body to review the EU type-examination certificate if one of the following cases occurs:
- in the event of changes to the approved type,
- in the event of a change in the state of the art,
- at the latest before the expiry date of the certificate.
